Harvest day 1

A 4:30 rise and a 5:30 departure for Glasgow airport aiming to arrive with two adults, two kids and luggage that meant that the term travelling light was a noble aim generously avoided. Ran a bit tight on the Heathrow connection but a quick sprint with Matthew as a rugby ball under Daddy's arm meant that we settled in for the 8 hour flight with a bit of a sweat on. The following are the rest of my observations:

You just cannot entertain a 14 month year old for a full 8 hours (the irony of another crying baby waking our Katie from her snooze was not lost on us).
Melt down will always occur not long after you have given yourself a self-congartulatory pat on the back.
The grumpiest person on the plane will always be sat in front of your nearly three year old- and he will repeatedly kick the back of her chair.
God's grace is sufficient for a couple of sinners to make it from Glasgow to Chicago without a cross word or apparent anger. At least I thought Alison did great (she is maybe better at making the frustration I cause her less obvious).
We've already met some incredibly warm and gracious people.
The church building we were in this morning is bigger than Braehead.
A drop in temperature from 8 degree centigrade to minus 19 degrees centigrade really is as cold as it sounds
There's something quite poetic about someone called Kirk meeting someone called Scotty at the beginning of an adventure.

Hi Scott,

Glad to hear you've all arrived safely and sounds like the hats are going to be well worn by the time you get back. Our prayers are with you guys and we really hope you have fantastic time and both you and the guys at Harvest are blessed by your time together. Also hope that the dilithium crystals hold up!

See you soon.
