While studying at university in Dundee I was struck with the number of excellent churches there were in that city. The student was given excellent choice in each of the mainstream denominations with men ministering in these churches with a deep commitment to Biblical truth, modelling expository preaching and emphasising mission.

Yesterday I came across an article by Bryan Kee who serves as an intern in one of these churches. I am once more encouraged that there is a generation of young guys seeking to pursue Gospel ministry with that same commitment to Biblical truth, expository preaching and mission emphasis. I have blogged in the past about my concerns in this regard.

North America, it has been noted, has encountered something of a reformed resurgence. I believe that a similar thing is happening here as well. I believe that God is raising up a generation of pastors dissatisfied with the lack of doctrinal clarity that we have witnessed over the past 15-20 years (I know it's probably been going on for longer but we're only young!). We are concerned about the theological direction and priorities being espoused by denominations and training institutions, the priorities within preaching, the watered down, book-shop defined gospel that is subtly (and in some place substantially) different from the Biblical Gospel.

It is interesting to me that God has placed in the past months and years a colection of young pastors with reformed convictions and it has been a great encouragement to meet together and pray together- spurring each other on. So please pray for this and if you know of any other young pastor in Scotland who might benefit from fellowship with like-minded people drop me an e-mail.
